JamBase: Wilco's Outdoor Concert in Kansas "Cause for Celebration"

Wilco While Wilco's next scheduled tour date is a couple months away, folks are still talking about the band's May 14 show that took over the streets of downtown Lawrence, Kansas. The venue was a makeshift stage set up where 10th Street meets New Hampshire, and JamBase's Nathan Rodriguez writes that it was a "cause for celebration" among the locals.

In his blow-by-blow review of the show that includes photos and video, as well, Rodriguez says the band was "on-point," from "the buoyant, ambling rhythm" of the show opener, "Walken" from Sky Blue Sky, to the final encore, Mermaid Avenue's "Hoodoo Voodoo," with its "infectious" groove and "inspired, fiery guitar bursts," two-and-a-half hours later.

"Couldn't be a more perfect night," Tweedy told the crowd. "I think we got lucky!"
